Meet the Press talks raising taxes

I’m not the biggest David Gregory fan – he’s just not hard hitting like Russert was – but today’s roundtable caught my eye.  The topic was unemployment, which is pretty generic these days, but I was impressed that the heads acknowledged the complexity of the current situation.  Instead of resorting to cliches about free markets, tax breaks, or China, the commentators pointed out how bleak the situation is and how there is no easy way out of our fiscal quagmire.  They even admitted, amazingly, that we will have to raise our taxes soon.

Also, it occurred to me that one reasons Democrats are labeled as the tax-raising is because they are elected after Republicans have screwed up the economy and deficit.  In other words, Democrats have to be fiscally responsible because their predecessors like to get drunk on debt.  Just a thought.
